Exciting Start to the Global G.A.P. Training Program

Today(May 8th 2025) marked the beginning of an impactful Training Program on Global G.A.P. Certification at the HortiFresh Center of Excellence in Entebbe, hosted within the Uganda Free Zones and Export Promotion Authority (UFZEPA) Export Facility. Over 40 agronomists, quality controllers, and industry professionals gathered to explore the essentials of international certification standards, setting the stage for a transformative learning experience.

The opening session was packed with valuable insights and engaging discussions. Key stakeholders, including representatives from Control Union, HortiFresh Association, and PACEID, delivered inspiring remarks on the critical role of certification in boosting Uganda’s agricultural competitiveness. They emphasized how Global G.A.P. standards can open doors to lucrative international markets while promoting sustainable farming practices.

Control Union led a deep dive into Global G.A.P. standards, shedding light on the benefits of compliance—from improved market access to operational efficiencies. Participants gained practical knowledge on essential processes like farm data collection, documentation, and the significance of water and soil analysis in meeting certification requirements. The session also featured interactive case studies, allowing attendees to discuss real-world challenges and success stories, fostering a collaborative learning environment.
