Revolutionizing Supply Chains: Blockchain Traceability System Unveiled at PACEID Workshop
The workshop held at the Sheraton Hotel on 12th December 2024 focused on the presentation of a blockchain traceability system developed by Professor Nenad Stajanovic. This innovative system, designed to enhance traceability in agricultural supply chains, served as the central topic of discussion among key stakeholders in the sector.
Professor Stajanovic’s blockchain traceability system, still undergoing testing, promises to revolutionize traceability and transparency in supply chains. Designed with adaptability in mind, the system can be customized and integrated with existing systems to meet the unique needs of various industries. Following consultations with sector players, the system could address critical traceability challenges, offering a robust solution for sectors where product tracking and data integrity are paramount.
The FFV (Fresh Fruits and Vegetables) sector emerged as a promising area for applying this technology. With global markets increasingly prioritizing traceability to ensure food safety and compliance with import regulations, the potential of blockchain in enhancing Uganda’s export competitiveness cannot be overstated.
The workshop underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in deploying cutting-edge technology to address real-world challenges. With further testing and stakeholder consultations, the blockchain traceability system could become a cornerstone of Uganda’s agricultural innovation, boosting both domestic and international trade.
